MIKUSZEWO 4 – 8 06 2018

In June 2018, in cooperation with the Bezlik Foundation, we implemented the project "Beyond Borders" at the International Youth Meeting Center in Mikuszewo in the Wielkopolskie Province. Together with Katarzyna Jackowska-Enemuo and Katarzyna Kamecka, we worked with young people from Germany, Polish and Roma from Romania, living and studying in Poland. During a few intense days, during workshops on cultural, integrative, theater, dance and music education, we dealt with the subject of various types of borders, limitations, insight into whether they help us and are needed or not. We were accompanied by reflection on openness, the potential need to cross borders, the search for what is common; on the reasons for nationalism, migration, being "different". We have managed to broaden awareness of cultural diversity and sensitize to what is different. Classes were simultaneously interpreted into three languages.

Self-organization of young people under the supervision of teachers – guardians, living together (preparing meals, organizing free time) in a beautiful old palace, intensive educational, cultural and artistic activities influenced the friendship of young people despite language and cultural barriers. The finale of the workshop was a mobile site-specific theatrical performance, to which we invited residents of the area and guests from Poznań, ending with a joint party at the table in the park and bonfire.
